First of all, this morning you have two podcasts to download and listen to, or put on your iPod. First, from 9:00-10:00 (central time) last night, I hosted the SethSpeaks.net Weekly Minnesota Twins podcast. Kevin Goldstein was the first guest and we talked for a half-hour on the Twins minor league system and several of their prospects. It was a lot of fun. Then John Meyer, the Twins Most Valuable Blogger, called in from the Metrodome where the game had gone into extra innings, for a quick update. Finally Zach Spears, the new Voice of the Ft. Myers Miracle, called in to talk about the Miracle for about ten minutes. I thought it was a very good show, and yes, I have listened back to it now, and I still think it was good!
That show concluded right at 10:00. At that time, my intent was to listen in to the night’s MNGameNight.com podcast. John Bonnes, the Twins Geek, was hosting the show and with such a good game, there was plenty to talk about. Unfortunately, I kept getting errors when I was trying to listen to the show. I ended up restarting my computer and when it started again, Internet Explorer would not open. My computer stinks! After a couple more restarts, I finally was able to get Explorer to open. Unfortunately the show was over. Soon after, I was able to listen to tonight’s show online. John Bonnes went solo for the full half-hour show and did an absolutely tremendous job. I am kind of nervous because after he listens back to his show, he may realize that he doesn’t need me at all and will want to do the show by himself! He talked about approximately ten topics relative to the Twins game, the AL Central and the upcoming matchup, so please be sure to listen to that show as well.
Quickly, here are the game reports for the Twins minor league team’s from Tuesday night. Also, I have been getting a few questions about the Prospect Watch. I hope to have it up by the end of the week, depending on being able to get pictures. So be sure to check for that.
I missed it in my previous blog on the Twins, but the Twins made the easy choice and sent Brian Duensing to Rochester to make room for Scott Baker who will start tonight. I fully believe this was the only real choice. R.A. Dickey deserves to be on this roster as a long reliever, and Philip Humber is out of options so they can’t give up on him at this point. Duensing has three years worth of options left and has only pitched once this season.
ROCHESTER REPORT
Tuesday – Rochester 6, Pawtucket 5 – Matt Macri is off to a terrific start for the Red Wings. In this game, he went 2-4 with his fifth double and second stolen base. He is now hitting .474 (9-19) on the short season. Drew Butera was 2-3 with a double. Jason Pridie was 2-4 with a double. Jason Jones got the start. He gave up three runs on three hits (2 home runs) and two walks in just 4.1 innings. Sean Henn then gave up two runs (1 earned) on a hit and two walks in 1.2 innings. Bobby Keppel threw a scoreless inning before Ben Julianel threw two scoreless innings to be credited with the win.
ROCKCAT RECAP
Tuesday – New Britain 3, Portland 4 – Jeff Manship fell to 0-2 with the loss in this game. He gave up four runs on six hits and a walk in four innings. Yohan Pino had a nice start. He allowed just one base runner in three innings. He struck out five. Anthony Slama walked one and struck out two in a scoreless inning. Wilson Ramos came into the game hitting .238, and with a 3-4 day, he is now hitting .320. Brian Dinkelman went 2-4 with a walk and a triple. Danny Valencia hit his first home run of the year.

Tuesday – Ft. Myers/Jupiter – Game postponed by rain.
SNAPPERS SNIPPETS
Tuesday – Beloit 10, Quad Cities 7 – Brad Tippett got the Win in his first start of the season. He gave up four runs (3 earned) on five hits and a walk in five innings. He struck out seven. Joe Testa then came in and struck out four in three scoreless frames. Danny Hernandez came in and gave up three runs on a hit and two walks in an inning. Jonathan Waltenbury went 3-5 with a triple. Alexander Soto was 3-5 with a double. Ramon Santana had two fielding errors in the game. Good thing that he went 2-3 with two walks, his second double of the season and his first home run in the game.

It might be that he was simply a good college pitcher dominating kids and A ball.
Kevin was a great guest to have on, nice work. The live from the Dome interviews are ok, but the noise from the dome is a little hard on the ears.

Nice to see that Ramos, Plouffe, Mijares, & Slama are off to solid starts (still early though)
I’ve seen a lot of talk recently about how bad Bill Smith’s trades of Garza and Santana are looking, and it got me thinking…Would there be any way Terry Ryan would ever talk about
1. The one trade he wishes he could have made but didn’t(an actual deal that was on the table)
2. The one trade he is glad that he could have made but didn’t (again, an actual deal that was on the table)
I always thought it would be interesting to hear that side of things, but I’m sure they have some kind of “code of silence” and they don’t talk about those kinds of things. It would just make for interesting conversation!
Seems unlikely, especially as he still works for the Twins. Maybe if he was retired and working for ESPN and needed some blog material…..
