I just learned the Beloit outfielder Evan Bigley has been promoted to the Ft. Myers Miracle. I thought there was an outside chance that the Twins tenth round pick in 2008 out of Dallas Baptist would start the season with the Miracle. He was sent down to Beloit, and he showed that he deserved to be in Ft. Myers. This morning, he will make that flight, and join the Miracle tonight. In 25 games with the Snappers, he hit .307/.340/.446 with six doubles, a triple, two homers and 22 RBI.
Here are a couple of other thoughts, pure speculation on my part at this point. I will be working to find out if my guesses are accurate, or what the other moves are.
- First, my assumption is that 2007 first-round pick Ben Revere could be going on the Disabled List for the Miracle. He left the game early on Saturday night. The Miracle did not play on Sunday. Revere was also not in the lineup on Monday. Could he be headed to the Disabled List?
- Second, well, you know where I’m going. With Bigley moving up to Ft. Myers, the Beloit Snappers could use another outfielder. Could this be the time for 2008 #1 pick Aaron Hicks? Should it be? Who else could it be? Could be a fun season in Beloit with Hicks joining Angel Morales!

Hmmmmmm. If Hicks would go to Beloit, that would be sweet.
What may happen when Bigley gets to FT Meyers is he will play if Revere goes on the DL. And when Revere returns from the DL I could see them sending Dolenc since he’s performing well and the older OF with the Miracle.
Dolenc could fill in for Joe Gaetti who was recently traded to the Ranger organization.
Or….. Maybe Revere is out for and extended period of time. Let’s hope not.
Speculation….insn’t it grand?
I hope you’re right Seth. I am making the 5 hour journey to Beloit at the end of the month and my fingers are crossed that Hicks will be there.
The Snappers just pulled Lanning up from EST… so maybe it’s going to happen!
Hicks should be with Beloit already, so I hope you are correct.
What’s up with Revere?
Stinks that Benson has a broken hand. Nice bounce-back year for him after last year’s lost season.
Rats.
Bigley/Revere/Parmelee/Dolenc all should get some good PT in the Fort Myers OF.
Parmelee is warming up. Hitting .379 in his last 10, with only 7ks in 29 at bats.
LaVelle is saying that they’ll activate Santana and not promote Hicks to Beloit…
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…..
Benson broke his ring finger punching a wall on a night going 2-4…kid’s a little hard on himself.
I wouldn’t boo it perse. Morales has been taking most of the centerfield reps in Beloit, not Bigley, so I’d take it as the Twins wanted a corner outfielder to replace him in Beloit and that they want to see if Morales can reach his high ceiling. If Morales is still below the Mendozza line in a couple of weeks, then I’d suspect they give Hicks his chance.
I doubt the Twins are going to make any evaluations on Morales based on a the first couple months of the season. My guess is Hicks isn’t ready to play at Beloit or he would be there.
There is more to that question than whether he has the baseball skills, there is also the question of maturity. The atmosphere in Elizabethton is very different than A ball. The players are younger – mostly under drinking age. Many of them live with local families. I think we forget these are kids who are away from home for the first time – ready or not.
