I know. I’m a terrible person. I didn’t have a podcast the two weeks during the holiday season, and for that, I apologize sincerely. But tonight, the SethSpeaks.net Weekly Minnesota Twins podcast will return at 9:00 central time, and we’ve got some great guests. Here is the current schedule, but it is subject to change (hopefully addition only!):
(all times central)
9:00 – 9:05 – Seth Introduction
9:05 – 9:20 – Joe Testa, Twins minor league relief pitcher. (After dominating the Midwest League during the season’s first half, he was even better with Ft. Myers in the second half. 5-0 with a 1.22 ERA and a 12.9 K/9 rate!)
9:25 – 9:35 – Bill Ferris, Tigers blogger at The Detroit Tigers Weblog
9:40 – 9:55 – I’m really hoping that it will work to have Jack Steal, Fanatic Jack Talks Twins on the podcast… and he and I can discuss his most recent Twins-front-office-bashing Twins-related article.
If Jack is unable to join the show, it means more time for your questions as well, and the phone lines will be open. There are Twins topics to discuss; moving into Target Field, Bert Blyleven’s Hall of Fame chances tomorrow, free agents, trades, and more. The chat room will be open for your questions, but you will also be able to call in to the show to discuss Twins topics. The Call-In number is 347-202-0548.
If you have any questions or comments, please comment here.

Seth, if you do have Mr. Steal on your program, please ask him to be clear when bashing the team. he refers to a 15 cent sales tax, which is very misleading. Yes, it is 15 cents on $20.00 which is much different than the way he said it. If your gonna trash the Twins at least have the courtesy of being accurate. Unfortunately, I will be sound asleep by 9pm.
Bobby Keppel was released…what’s going on Seth? Is there going to be a meaningful move to coincide with this release?
If anyone knows it will be Seth regarding Keppel.
Are you going to beat the beat reporters again, Seth? Dropping Keppel in itself is MOST encouraging, regardless of what follows.
CBS Sports says Twins made an offer to Washburn yesterday – could the release of Keppel be related?
I hope not! I would rather have Liriano as my #5 starter than Washburn. I would much rather have Hudson or Lopez at 2B than Washburn as well! I’m ok with it if it leads to a big trade or another signing………..
But, ff that is the case and this is our only offseason signing… Bill Smith needs to be fired. He is starting to run this team the way Kevin McHale ran the T-Wolves. It will only be a matter of a few years and this team will be completely screwed up.
I agree – the $6-$7 million which it will take to sign Washburn, would be much better spent on my first choice – Lopez for 2nd base. Liriano’s looking good in winter ball and Duensing is in the wings as backup. Roll with it. Let the Brewers sign Washburn.
Now that Keppel’s gone, let’s sign Mauer and Lopez, and start culling the herd – Perkins, Casilla and if Neshek looks okay in ST, it makes Crain available. Time to restock the middle infield in the minors.
What we know about the Twins is that they do not give up their compulsions easily. [See Punto:Nick.] They have it in their heads that Washburn is a good pickup. Such idiocy is accompanied, as it almost always is, by a total lack of faith in their own players–Duensing,Swarzak, Manship, to name just three. If you look around at all the quality infielders vanishing off the board, you get the uncomfortable feeling that since the Nickster is penciled in at 2nd, the Twins do not feel an overwhelming need to upgrade there or at 3rd.
