A year ago at this time, Twins fans were a little concerned about the health of Joe Mauer. We were not certain if and when he would play again. Well, he came back on May 1, and in his first at bat, he hit an opposite field home run. In the next at bat, he doubled. He pretty much hit the rest of the year. He became the first player in nearly three decades to lead the league in batting average (.365), on-base percentage (.444) and slugging percentage (.587). He was an All Star for the third time, won his third batting title, third silver slugger award, second gold glove award and his first American League MVP award (including 27 of 28 first-place boats).
This spring, the Twins have not had Mauer play terribly much, but he will (hopefully) be ready to play a full season. Today, I am looking to each and every one of you who reads this to post your projections for Joe Mauer for the 2010 season. Here are his 2009 stats, followed by my prediction.
2009 Stats –
.365/.444/.587, with 30 doubles, 1 triple, 28 home runs, 96 RBI and 4 SB.
Seth’s 2010 Projection –
.321/.404/.517 with 41 doubles, 0 triples, 24 home runs, 104 RBI and 2 SB.
What do you think? What are your Joe Mauer 2010 Projections? Leave projections and comments here.

.339/.421/.549
.358/.428/.567 with 40 doubles, 2 triples, 31 home runs, 103 RBI’s, and 3 SB. And a World Series ring.
.340/.415/.520, 37 doubles, 24 home runs, 110 RBI
.334/.414/.523
.496/.700/.900 with 102 home runs, 297 RBI
That is really, really funny!
.345/.418/.530 38 doubles, 2 triples, 25 home runs, 98 RBI, 3 SB
.337/.425/.525, 40 doubles, 1 triple, 31 home runs, 107 RBI, 2 SB
Joe Mauer prediction – I dislike giving actually numbers because no one really knows, but if I had to venture I would say .325-18-85-85-5.
Really depends on how Target Field plays out, but I’ll go with 338/440/525 with 38 doubles, 2 triples and 22 home runs. I think his power numbers will drop slightly as pitchers try to go in on him more often which will also result in him taking more walks.
I think your numbers are more in line with what Kuble will produce this season with Thome taking away allot of his bats against lefties, but with fewer at bats Kuble will still be a Beast this year.
In my dream world:
.402/.489/.612
In reality, not far off from last season.
.350/.440/.570
I am worried his power numbers last year were an aberration, I certainly hope not.
.339/.422/.510 35 doubles, 1 triple, 18 HRs
I will go with .331 20 hrs 92 rbis
Pretty similar to 2008 but with more home runs and a few more rbis.
.308/.390/.502/ 36 doubles 2 triples 20 homers 98 RBI 2 steals. GG
.298/410/489
And with his new contract he can buy all the boats he wants.
.346/.415/.508, with 37 doubles, 2 triple, 25 home runs, 105 RBI and 2 SB.
.332/.408/.503 16 HR, 78 RBI and a 25 days stay on the DL
Seth,
You need to have more fun with guys that are more fun to bash like Punto. Have a community projection on him!
.338/.448/.505, 42 2B, 4 3B, 14 HR, 103 RBI.
.321 seems awfully conservative, but I like the other numbers. I would go with a .336 BA, 25 HR’s and 90 RBI’s.
.351/.420/.522 35 Doubles, 1 Triple, 32 HR, 101 RBI. How can the power be an aberration? It was for almost an entire season, and I doubt he will be the kind of player to lag with a big new contract. World Series, suckas.
How is it that everyone has him batting mid .300′s with 20 something homeruns and 30-40 doubles with only a low to mid .500 Slg%???? Doesn’t mathematically make sense… here is my prediction… .343/.478/.560 45 doubles, 1 triple, 18HR’s, 80rbi’s. The new ballpark is going to keep the ball “in the park” during early spring and late fall. Mauer is going to be walked more as well not because of the pitchers pitching aroun him but because Umps know of his eye, he’s last years MVP and their are going to be runners on first and second to start of the game a lot this year. Go Twins!
.350/.440/.565 35 Doubles, 30 HR, 100 R, 105 RBI
.338/.408/.569 40 doubles, 1 triple, 32 HRs, 122 RBIs This many home runs is probably wishful thinking.
.330/.409/.520 35 doubles, 3 triples, 23 HR’s 111RBI’s,103 runs. Break out rbi year with all the ob% in front.
Mauer: .402/.471/.639 33 doubles, 4 triples, 33 HR’s, 142 RBI’s, 5 stolen bases, 126 runs
Of course, it’s insane, but, you never know.
