Anyone else feeling it yet? The excitement of Opening Day! Yes, there was a Yankees/Red Sox game last night, but everyone knows that today, Monday is the real Opening Day (unless the Twins play on Sunday night, of course!). Tonight, I will be a guest on a special Opening Night Travis Talks Minnesota Sports podcast which will begin at 7:00. The Twins don’t play until 9:00, so Twins fans have time to be creative… I thought a nice sing-along would be fun! Here is your chance to be creative while thinking about or watching baseball throughout the day. I want to hear your baseball or Twins poems or song. Here’s my attempt at being creative and artistic and whatever else you want to call it. A little alteration to a great Christmas song:
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
Now the Hot Stove is done and the season’s begun,
All us baseball fans cheer,
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
It’s the hap-happiest day of them all…
Hot Dogs and peanuts are selling cuz umps will be yelling
It’s time to “Play Ball!”
It’s the hap-happiest day of them all…
Happy Opening Day to everyone!! Please leave your entries here!

Happy Opening Day!
I am just thinking about our closer situation, and wondering if we are overplaying the whole “Jon Rauch has never saved any meaningful games” thing because he earned his saves as part of a bad Washington team. During most of the 90′s, the Twins were a terrible team, yet did Rick Aguilera saves not count.
Look, I am NOT comparing Rauch to Aguilera, but I don’t think that we should discredit Rauch’s experance as a closer.
With my apologies to Katherine Lee Bates who wrote the real words to “America the Beautiful”, here is my sing-along contribution:
Oh beautiful, the home run ball,
Morneau and Kubel reign,
Cuddyer, Young, and Thome, all
Above the fruited plain!
A Mauer bomb! A Mauer bomb!
God shed his grace on thee,
And watch Denard, even he goes yard,
From sea to shining sea!
