Quick Notes

13 Jul

All Star Break, so I can have a day where I just post some Quick Notes, right? Here you go:

  • First, be sure to check out Tuesday night’s SethSpeaks.net Weekly Minnesota Twins Podcast. I was joined by Parker Hageman of Over The Baggy, TwinsCentric and DiamondCentric. We discussed Michael Cuddyer being an All-Star (and the great deal on Cuddy is my Buddy t-shirts!), and the entire Twins roster and what to expect in the 2nd half.
  • Michael Cuddyer entered the All-Star game in the 7th inning at 1st Base, replacing Miguel Cabrera. He came p in the bottom of the 9th against Brian Wilson. He flew out to RF on the first pitch. My advice, in a nationally televised game like that, take a few pitches so that the announcers can talk about you! The coolest moment was captured here.
  • Elizabethton beat Pulaski last night 17-5. They scored 10 runs in the bottom of the 5th Kennys Vargas went 4-6. Eddie Rosario was 3-5 with a walk and a triple. JD Williams was 3-4 with a walk. Nick Lockwood went 2-4 with two walks. Max Kepler had two hits. Todd Van Steensel was the beneficiary of the run support, but he pitched very well. In six innings, he gave up one run on two hits. He walked one and struck out four. Garrett Jewell gave up four runs (3 earned) on four hits in his two innings. Derek Christensen pitched a scoreless ninth.
  • I will be on The Sports Buffet on ESPN 99.1 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We’ll be talking about the Twins, in case you were wondering.
  • As a reminder, Travis Aune (Travis Twins Talk) and I will be in Beloit for games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There’ll be fireworks on Friday and Saturday night. Check out the All-You-Can-Eat special. Go to www.SnappersBaseball.com for more details, and if you call in to order tickets, mention SethSpeaks.net and I’ll donate $5 to the charity of the Snappers’ choice.
  • Travis’s new Prospect Profile is on Adrian Salcedo: The Future.
  • Seriously HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Peanuts in Heaven! Go there and find out why, but that is pretty cool… a blogger’s dream scenario?!
  • Nodak Twins Fan notes some headlines to follow in the second half.
  • Off the Mark discusses The Price of a Baseball.
  • Nick Nelson discusses a Power Infusion for the Twins.
  • Fanatic Jack says the Twins need a second-half surge.

Please feel free to leave your comments on anything discussed today or any other Twins topics.

Hey Seth. Francisco Nunez(5-1, 0.33) is dominating the DSL. This is his 3rd year in the Twins organization, all with the DSL Twins. Any idea on when the Twins might bring him to the states?

    I love your updats BTW.
    Thanks
