Friday Game Notes

Good Saturday afternoon! So as not to get overwhelmed with game notes on Monday, I wanted to post today. Feel free to comment.

TWINS 12, WHITE SOX 5

Here are a few thoughts on the Twins big win:

  • RA Dickey got the start against the White Sox. In five innings, he gave up three runs on five hits. He walked four and struck out four. It was far from a great start, but he and the Twins defense really did a nice job of limiting the damage to get the Win.
  • Brian Duensing came in to make his major league debut. When he came in, the score was 4-3 and he was asked to pitch just one inning. After getting out of that 6th inning, with just one hit, the Twins had their big seventh inning and Duensing stayed in for two more innings, which obviously was important in keeping the other relievers from needing to pitch.
  • The top of the lineup got the job done in this game. Both Denard Span and Alexi Casilla had three hits.
  • Justin Morneau slid up to the #3 spot in the lineup and came through with four RBI. He also hit his second home run.
  • Jose Morales went 2-3 with two walks. It was in Chicago that he went 3-3 in that 2007 game.
  • Delmon Young picked up his first hit of the season, a two run single in the seven run seventh inning.
  • And of course, the Joe Crede home run in his first at bat back in Chicago, has to be mentioned. That had to feel good rounding the bases!

Any other thoughts on the game or this afternoon’s game?

BELOIT BITS
Friday – Beloit 3, Cedar Rapids 5 The weather in Cedar Rapids was quite cold, and it had to be the reason the Dan Osterbrock was thrown off of his game. The young lefty gave up three runs on six hits in 4.1 innings. He walked two and struck out three. He also threw three wild pitches. Michael Allen came in and gave up two unearned runs in an inning of work. Joe Testa then struck out two in 1.2 scoreless frames. Dan Berlind pitched a perfect inning. Ramon Santana led the Snappers with three hits, all singles. Evan Bigley and Ozzie Lewis each went 2-4. Bigley stole a base and drove in a run. Lewis hit the team’s lone extra base hit, a double.
