McHale Won’t Return as Wolves Head Coach

I haven’t done as much basketball writing on this blog as I initially wanted to, but I figured this might be worthy of discussion. Izzy Presley of RX Magazine is reporting on his Facebook page that Kevin McHale will not return as the Minnesota Timberwolves head coach for the 2009-10 season. Presley sites “a source with the Timberwolves.” It is not certain whether the decision was David Kahn’s or Kevin McHale’s, but details will certainly be coming in the near future.

I don’t think anyone would be terribly surprised with this decision, but it has been news people have been waiting for for some time. Doogie Wolfson would like to see former Wolves forward Sam Mitchell as the Wolves next head coach.

What do you think? Send me an e-mail, or leave your questions or comments here.

I hope the Wolves can make a clean break from the past years failures and bring a new talent into coach. Mitchell has one sort of winning season on his resume. How about a real coach like Van Gundy or Avery Johnson.

They are so disfunctional they can’t even manage to announce the dismissal of their coach in a professional way.

Was Presley’s “source” Kevin Love’s Twitter page? That’s how I found out!

This is a move that needed to be done. I know both Al Jefferson and Kevin Love wanted Kevin McHale back as Head Coach. It’s never good when your two best players are upset about a dismissal. But at the same time, winning more game’s will certainly take their mind off that pretty quickly. Firing McHale was long overdue.

I would love to see Sam Mitchell as the Wolves Head Coach. He’s a good leader and a former player (something most player’s respect).
